#Google_Workspace has a lot of services and features that will help you get to the optimal #security and #compliance level that you want and need! Many of these security features and controls are found in the Gmail settings and configurations, as well as Google Drive.

In Gmail you get #Compliance rules, #anti-spam rules, content #compliance, and #anti-spoofing controls as well.

As a good practice in many cases, you can also utilize the email #routing rules to create a #catch-all email rule or address.

The purpose of catch-all rules is to help you achieve these goals:
1. Ensure no email sent to your domain is lost when the senders miss-spell the recipient email address.
2. Ensure that no #NDR reports are sent from your domain.

There are cases when you want to prevent these NDRs from being sent out from your domain such as when you want to prevent and mitigate a #backscatter or reverse NDR attack.

🟨 A backscatter #attack can happen when the attackers #spoof a working email address in your domain and use it to send emails to either non-existent destinations or other destinations either internally or externally. When the destination email server receives the email and becomes unable to deliver it, it sends back NDR to the sender who thinks it sent this email - in this case the server will think the sender of this email is the spoofed email that was initially used by the attackers.

Once the NDR reaches the innocent unaware victim who got his email spoofed, he or she most likely will open the attached original message with the NDR, thus achieving the goal of the attackers.

🟨 In this video I show you how you can create a catch-all rule using 2 methods in Google Workspace. The first one uses the default routing that you can find in Gmail settings, and the other one you can use from the Gmail routing settings and page where you can have more control over the settings that you want to create.
