On the 14th day of the Nagoya tournament Hakuho Sho won his 46th consecutive bout, surpassing Taihō's 45, behind only Chiyonofuji's 53 and Futabayama's 69 as the longest winning run since the beginning of the Shōwa era. He clinched his fifteenth yūshō on the same day, and on the final day the 69th Yokozuna secured his third consecutive 15–0 record, the first rikishi ever to achieve this feat.
