African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious viral disease affecting domestic and wild pigs, with a high mortality rate and severe economic and social impacts on pig farmers and rural communities. Recently, ASF has spread to new regions, including Asia, posing a significant concern for the global pig industry. Wild pigs are crucial reservoirs of ASF in many countries, making control of these populations vital to preventing further spread.
The video outlines how to protect wild pigs from ASF, consequently safeguarding domestic pigs. Approximately 11 species of wild pigs in Asia and the Pacific are at risk from ASF.
