bx_solo is a free plugin by Brainworx that you can use to monitor different sections of the stereo field. It lets you flip your left and right stereo channels, solo each, solo your mids, solo your sides, and has a knob to go from mono all the way to 4x the stereo width of the input. This is a very helpful plugin on the master bus of your mix template!
