In many ways, this might be the best place to start if you want to hear James Pennington/Suburban Knight. His tracks are stark, sinister, and somewhat repetitive. Like nothing else really. I think his music tends to work better in the context of a DJ mix rather than a CD compilation of unedited tracks, so it's nice to have this CD. Other than his own tracks he drops some classic UR 12"s from the Hood/Mills era, some spacey stuff from the Martian, and a few Mad Mike only UR era tracks. Not much if anything from the late 90s-early 2000s UR, which is surprising since this came out in 2003. That's fine by me as I tend to lean towards the "classic" UR tracks over the 2000s stuff. One thing I would like to have heard on here is something from Drexciya. It would've fit perfectly with Sub Knight's aesthetic. This is still a banging mix and a must have if you're interested in the darker sounds to come out of the UR camp. Highly recommended.
