Here's how to make the best hot chocolate ever! In this video I show you how to make three levels of rich, creamy hot chocolate—perfect for any chocolate lover! Whether you're new to making hot drinks, looking to upgrade, or ready to master a luxuriously thick Italian hot chocolate, follow along to create your ultimate hot chocolate, with each recipe bringing more warmth, comfort, and flavour.
Here are the three recipes below:
Hot Chocolate Level 1: Easy - Classic Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
480 ml (2 cups) whole milk (or milk of choice)
15 g (2 tablespoons) cocoa powder
25 g (2 tablespoons) sugar (adjust to taste)
Mini marshmallows (for topping)
Method:
Warm the Milk: In a saucepan, warm the milk until it's steaming but not boiling.
Whisk in Cocoa powder and sugar: Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved and smooth.
Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into a mug.
Top with Marshmallows: Add mini marshmallows on top and enjoy!

Hot Chocolate Level 2: Intermediate - Extra Chocolatey Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
480 ml (2 cups) whole milk
55 g (1/3 cup) chocolate of choice (around 55% cacao), finely chopped
12 g (1 tablespoon) sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
1.25 ml (1/4 teaspoon) vanilla extract
Fancy marshmallow (for topping)
Method:
Heat the Milk: In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
Add Chocolate: Add the chopped chocolate and stir until it's melted and smooth.
Add Sugar (Optional): Add sugar if you'd like a sweeter hot chocolate, stirring until fully dissolved.
Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract.
Serve: Pour into a mug.
Top with a Marshmallow: Place a fancy marshmallow on top and enjoy!

Hot Chocolate Level 3: Expert - Thick and Rich Italian Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
375 ml (1 1/2 cups) whole milk
110 g (3/4 cup) dark chocolate (70% cacao), finely chopped
15-30 g (1-2 tablespoons) sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
8 g (1 tablespoon) cornflour (cornstarch)
Pinch of sea salt
Double cream/heavy cream for whipping
Method:
Whip the Cream: Whip the cream to soft peaks and set aside for topping.
Prepare Cornflour Slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornflour with 125ml (1/2 cup) of the milk until smooth.
Heat Milk Mixture: In a saucepan, add the remaining 250ml (1 cup) of milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and sea salt. Heat over medium heat until steaming hot.
Add Chocolate and Slurry: Turn off the heat and add the chopped dark chocolate and the cornflour slurry. Stir continuously until the chocolate has melted and the mixture has thickened to a rich, creamy consistency.
Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into a mug.
Top with Whipped Cream: Add a dollop of whipped cream on top and enjoy!
