Detour routes set following Madison County bridge failure
Madison County has released a detour map to get around the closed bridge on the west side of Twin Bridges.
The bridge failed a special inspection on Monday and was promptly shut down by the Montana Department of Transportation to prevent catastrophe.
A structural issue with a pier caused the bridge deck to drop one inch across both travel lanes. A bump in the bridge was first noticed by maintenance personnel, and a special inspection was promptly scheduled.
