Catapult king Wayne Martin has a job on his hands. Feral pigeons have taken over some big farm barns. Armed with their slingshots, Wayne and his buddy Matt are out to reduce numbers.
For hunting Wayne is using his EVO Field Pro catapult, with a 25/20 taper, of Catty Shack ‘Great White’ band, in 0.85 thickness, with 11mm lead. He uses the same for the target course with 11mm steel instead.
Matt is using a PR3 catapult, with a 25/20 taper of Sheshoo band, in 0.65 thickness, with 10mm lead. Same for the targets, but with 9.5mm steel instead.

Why shoot feral pigeons?
Ferals are a farmyard pest that eat livestock feeds and cause farmyard hygiene issues: they crap all over the place. The environment departments all agree they can be shot. They are on the ‘general licences’ for shooting so that, mainly, airgunners can target them. We use airguns, because the pellets do not cause damage to farm buildings when we shoot them in barn rafters.
We’re proud to promote enjoyment of fieldsports and the countryside. There are three guiding principles to everything we do on Fieldsports Channel:
▶ Shoot responsibly
▶ Respect the quarry
▶ Ensure a humane, clean and quick kill
