In this week’s episode of Top Story, JNS editor-in-chief Jonathan Tobin speaks with Kohelet Policy Forum founding chairman Moshe Koppel about the group’s efforts to promote judicial reform in Israel. Koppel explains how Israel’s Supreme Court has given itself unaccountable powers that are unlike those in any other Western democracy and why that has to change. He ascribed the opposition to reform as being primarily a matter of politics since progressives see the court as the only way for them to maintain power despite losing elections to the right.

What’s next for the Kohelet foundation? Will judicial reform ever happen?
