Power queries are one of the excellent tools that was introduced into Excel in the last few years and Microsoft are expanding their functionality regularly.

Applying them in the PC version is straight forward - but what about Mac Excel users? There's no sugar-coating it - it's a little more convoluted! Microsoft - if your listening - why is the Mac journey in Excel peppered with these hurdles?

There are query files with an iqy extension that are accessible from Mac Excel. We need to open one of these in Microsoft Word (or some other text editor) and edit the URL line to whatever url we need. This video takes you through the process step by step.

One note - when edit your iqy file and resave for the first time and then go to run it, the file will be disabled or greyed out. Just go back into the menu and click "Run Web Query" option a second time and it's enabled. It's just a bug that hopefully will soon be a distance memory for Mac users.
