This unusual 28-inch barrel gun stands out for the two detachable boxlocks. Designed for use when travelling this mechanism is an interesting feature for collectors. With 2½" chambers, about 1/4 and full choke borings, it has a doll’s head extension. With engraved breeches, the frame, hinged base plate and patent top lever have bold scroll engraving surrounding scenes of game birds, retaining some original hardening colour and the maker’s name signed in gold.
It's Lot 200 in the Gavin Gardiner auction of sporting guns on 1 May 2019, estimated at £2,000-£3,000.
