Pro Wrestling Basics: What is Indy/Indie Wrestling?
Independent pro-wrestling (indy wrestling / indie wrestling) is made without any corporate backing. It lacks the financing and almost all of the layers of bureaucracy that come with more corporate forms of professional wrestling.
In my opinion, true indy wrestling takes shape after the territory system completely collapses. Although independently-operated wrestling organizations have been around for decades, I think indy wrestling only begins to discover its identity in 1994 with the birth of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
