How Many Plugins Do You Need For Music Production?
In this beginner tutorial I'll talk about how many, and what kind of plugins you need in order to make music. There are many misconceptions out there regarding this issue. As a beginner, it can be hard to know where to start. Some people will tell you that you need to use this or that synth in order to succeed.
Some people will tell you that using presets is cheating and that you can't use samples and so on. My advice is, don't listen to those people. There are really no rules in music production. The only thing that really matters, in the end, is how your track sounds. The listeners don't care about how you made something, they only care about one thing: Does it sound good?
When you buy a DAW, it usually comes packed with a lot of synths and effects. More than enough to get you started. That said, there's a lot of great third party stuff out there as well, and eventually, you'll want to get your hands on some of it. I recommend that you start small though. Get to know some basic plugins first, and don't be too fixated on getting hold of as many plugins as possible. In this video, I'll give you some of my thoughts on these issues.
