Abi Palmer Invents the Weather is a new series of four short films by artist and writer Abi Palmer commissioned by Artangel. Made over the course of a year, the films are set in the artist’s south London apartment and star her two indoor cats, Lola-Lola and Cha-U-Kao.
Conscious that the cats could never experience the outside world, Palmer begins a process of recreating the outdoors for them. Taking a crucial feature from each season, she breaks down the elements into four boxes using sensory found objects from local woodlands.
Fog is the second film in the series, which takes on a more abstract interpretation of the winter season. Fog explores Palmer’s own experience of brain fog and increased ill health over winter; clinging to the hope that nothing is permanent and “this too shall pass.”
