Equatorial Guinea is a small African country. It is the only one in the entire continent in which the official language is Spanish, which is because it was colonized by Spain.

The country gained its independence in 1968, but a free democracy could never be established. Teodoro Obiang has governed for 40 years and political and civil liberties are minimal, as reported by various NGOs.

Equatorial Guinea plans to move the current capital, Malabo. It projects Ciudad de la Paz as a new seat of government. As Brazil did with Brasilia, it is a planned city.

Finally, a review of two incredible stories: the link to Latin America and the Viceroyalty of Río de la Plata and the one of Eric Moussambani.
