There, at more than 2000 meters above sea level, a glacier gives birth to Isère. However, it has lost 2/3 of its volume due to global warming. The flow of the river is consequently affected. Further down, in the Chartreuse Massif, the difference in altitude is used to capture the waters of the Isère which will supply a veritable aquatic staircase on the Château du Touvet estate. At the crossroads of the Drac and the Isère lies Grenoble. This steep-sided city developed new ways of building very early on, thanks to cement and concrete. Downstream, speleologist Laurent Garnier ventures into the Choranche cave, in the heart of the Vercors.
