What Is Overwatch
Created in true Blizzard style and directed by Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch is a fresh new concept in the FPS genre. The official announcement came on November 7th, 2014 at BlizzCon, where they showed gameplay as well as 12 of the characters with promises of many more to come.
The story of Overwatch starts at a point approximately 30 years in a highly fictionalized version of future earth. A time where humans and robots known as the Omnix existed together. The story, as Chris Metzen tells it, is that this race of robots went 'crazy' and started attacking everything. To fight back, each nation found their most elite soldiers and formed what is now known as Overwatch.
Their job was to save earth from the Omnix, which they did quite successfully. Over the next 25 years, they were the protectors of the planet as an international coalition. Some agents stayed, some were replaced as needed for whatever reason, but as that time went on something else happened and over the following 5 years, Overwatch fell apart. This is where you, the players come in. Can you save Overwatch and once again become the heroes you once were?
Overwatch is a 6v6 team based shooter and will be available for beta testing in Fall 2015.
