Audi showed Skysphere transformer electric car
624 horses and acceleration to a hundred in 4 seconds — this is how the German brand's new idea of progressive luxury looks like.
The car weighs 1.8 tons and is 4.94 meters long. After switching to Grand Touring comfort mode, the electric car activates autopilot and lengthens to 5.19 meters — the cabin becomes more spacious.
Designers say they were inspired by the classic Horch 853 convertible: they share a very short front overhang and a rear-mounted cabin, and the "stretched" Skysphere is only a few centimeters shorter than the pre-war model which is 5.23 meters long.
The Skysphere is powered by a 465-kilowatt (632.4 hp) electric motor with 750 Nm of torque. It is mounted on the rear axle and allows acceleration to 100 km/h in four seconds. On a single charge it promises about 500 kilometers of range.
It won't go into mass production. It is intended to show what the German brand's electric cars will be like in the future.
