1848: Isacco Pesaro Maurogonato
Once upon a time there were the Revolutions of 1848. That year, the Republic of San Marco has been proclaimed and Isacco Pesaro Maurogonato, future Director of Generali, becomes its Minister of Finance. In order to counter popular effervescence, the Trieste management of Generali proposes to reduce the name of the Company to “Assicurazioni Generali”, without mentioning "Austro-Italiche". In the same year, once the Habsburg are back in power, the Venetian management replaces the two-headed eagle with the Lion of St. Mark: they would never go back.
