Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2021 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. In the film, Parker asks Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) to use magic to make his identity as Spider-Man a secret again after this was revealed to the world at the end of Far From Home. When the spell goes wrong because of Parker's actions, the multiverse is broken open and visitors from alternate realities are brought into Parker's universe.
A third MCU Spider-Man film was planned during the production of Homecoming in 2017. Negotiations between Sony and Marvel Studios to alter their deal—in which they produce the Spider-Man films together—ended with Marvel Studios leaving the project in August 2019, but a negative fan reaction led to a new deal between the companies a month later. Watts, McKenna, Sommers, and Holland were set to return, and filming took place from October 2020 to March 2021 in New York City and Atlanta. No Way Home serves as a crossover between the MCU and the previous Spider-Man films directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb.
Yelena Belova (Russian: Елена Белова) is the adoptive sister of Natasha Romanoff and a Red Room operative who worked for General Dreykov as a Black Widow. Following Romanoff's defection from the Red Room, Belova and other Black Widows were put through a mind-control program and turned into Dreykov's obedient subordinates. After being freed from the control, Belova joined forces with Romanoff, as well as their adoptive parents Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostokoff, to bring down the Red Room once and for all. They eventually succeeded and liberated all Black Widows, with Belova directly killing Dreykov. After parting ways with Romanoff, Belova spent two years freeing many of the remaining brainwashed Black Widows before she was killed by Thanos' Snap.
Upon her resurrection in the Blip in 2023, Belova attempted to seek out Romanoff, but was informed that she had died. While visiting Romanoff's grave, Belova was given an assignment by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who claimed that Clint Barton was responsible for Romanoff's death and that she was to eliminate him. In December 2024, Belova came into conflict with Barton and his protégé Kate Bishop. Belova held back against hurting Bishop, and though she came close to killing Barton, Barton managed to get through to Belova and explain that Romanoff's death was of her own choice to save Belova and the world. Coming to terms with Barton and accepting Romanoff's death, Belova abandoned her mission and departed for unknown parts.
Peter Benjamin Parker is a superhero who possesses spider-like abilities and operates in New York City as the amazing Spider-Man. In the past, Spider-Man fought against multiple villains, including Lizard and Electro, who individually terrorized his home city. Unfortunately, after failing to save his girlfriend Gwen Stacy from falling to her death, a guilt-ridden Parker fell victim to his own rage, becoming an embittered and violent vigilante.
Later, due to an error in Doctor Strange's spell, Spider-Man was summoned to Strange's universe, meeting that reality's Spider-Man along with another alternate-reality Spider-Man, as well as with Michelle Jones and Ned Leeds. Learning that Lizard and Electro had also crossed universes, Spider-Man recreated an antidote for Lizard to use in a subsequent battle at Liberty Island. There, the three Spider-Men, and Otto Octavius, combated several universe-displaced villains to have them cured of their afflictions. During the fight, Spider-Man managed to make up for his past failure by saving Jones from a long fall. Finally, after the villains had been cured, Spider-Man embraced his alternate selves before being returned to his home universe by Strange.
