😅 Chinese Can Be Awkward Sometimes…

Today, I had a conversation that reminded me just how tricky Chinese can be.

I asked someone about his father's health, and he told me his father had “走了”

Which in Chinese means he passed away. 😔

In these moments, it can be hard to know what to say, even for a native speaker.

I comforted him by saying,

"你尽力了" (You did everything you could),

and "很遗憾他离开了" (I’m sorry he passed away).

If you ever find yourself in this situation, you can also say, "请你节哀" (I am sorry for your loss).

It’s a bit formal, but it’s how we handle these difficult moments.

Chinese can be awkward and challenging, but that’s part of its complexity.
