Learn how to add running water to your workshop with this cheap, easy DIY solution. If you're like me and don't have a sink or running water in your shop, then you'll benefit from this quick, easy, inexpensive setup.
Products Used:
20L Aqua-Pak Water Container - http://amzn.to/2D7U3IX
Sterilite 12Qt Dish Pan - http://amzn.to/2D8CVme
Plywood Box Part Dimensions:
1/2" plywood Sides (x2) - 7-3/8" W x 10" L
1/2" plywood Front & Back (x2) - 7-3/8" W x 8" L
5/8" plywood Top (x1) - 9" W x 13" L
The thickness of the plywood that you use for the box isn't critical. I happened to have scraps of plywood around the shop in 1/2" and 5/8" thicknesses so I used that. Use whatever you have on hand, just remember to adjust the length of the front and back pieces to suit the thickness of the material that you use. Ultimately you want the overall dimensions of the 4 sided box to be 9" wide by 10" long before the top goes on.
There are many tasks in a workshop that are helpful to have running water for such as: washing your hands, rinsing tools after sharpening, cleaning tools, cleaning brushes, filling up smaller containers of water, cleaning blades or adding water to mixtures.
Installing a sink with full running water can be expensive in a building with no existing water service run to it. While this DIY solution won't do everything that a full sized utility sink with full running water will, it serves the vast majority of workshop needs. I hope you find this solution helpful for your shop space and if so be sure to let me know.
