Zootopia Isn’t an Allegory (And Neither is Toy Story)
Critics of Zootopia have a common belief: Zootopia fails at its allegory because it justifies racism. People have this belief because they see predators as an allegory for minority races and prey as an allegory for majority races. This is a flawed way of viewing the story because there are too many details that wouldn’t even line up if it was an allegory. Zootopia takes inspiration from real world discrimination when writing its relationship between the animals, but it is not an allegory.
