Here's my solution
Mechanical components of the car are susceptible to stresses and at higher speeds and these cockpit vibrations (just like in real life) can be used to make you feel the speed, since you are seated on the seat, stuck in one place, your head can feel the vibrations which can be replicated in racing games to give the sense of speed
Without adding any fake illusion speed elements like motion blur etc
