Full review and demo of the RODE BROADCASTER large diaphragm condenser microphone; built specifically for broadcasting, podcasting, live streaming, voice-over, and narration.
#Microphones #RODE
The RODE BROADCASTER has a frequency response of 20Hz-20KHz, and it's tailored specifically for voice with boosts in the top end for clarity, and an enhanced low-end for power and proximity effect.
This is an XLR mic, and since it's a condenser, it requires Phantom Power.
Unlike most large diaphragm condenser mics, the Broadcaster is an End-Address mic, just like many dynamic microphones (Rode Procaster, Shure SM7B, Shure SM58, etc...)
This mic is tailored specifically for broadcast/speaking, but you can use it for other purposes as well.
It includes a 75Hz high-pass filter, to filter out very low-end noise and to prevent things from getting too "boomy" or bottom-heavy.
And it includes a red LED On-Air light that can be wired into a board, or it will come on anytime it detects phantom power.
If you are looking for a new mic for your podcast or YouTube videos, this is one worth considering.
*Every word you hear in this video was recorded with the Rode Broadcaster.
In the demo section, we'll test out the BROADCASTER from various distances, and we'll have RAW samples, and Processed samples.
The overall volume will be raised (about 10dB in post) during the RAW samples, but no processing or plugins.
For the Processed samples, we'll use iZotope Nectar 3 (EQ, Compression, Gate, De-Ess), iZotope Voice De-noise, iZotope Mouth De-click, and iZotope De-Breath.
!!NOTE!! The Processed samples will be LOUDER than the Raw samples because of the compression, so you may need to turn down your volume a bit in that section (and raise it during the Raw samples).
