Paul Solomonson teaches motorcycle safety to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment in Washington state. Solomonson is an instructor at Puget Sound Safety, an organization that promotes motorcycle safety techniques.
"The special forces community makes up 3% of the larger army," says Solomonson, "But they were responsible for 20% of the motorcycle fatalities every year. We were actually losing more soldiers to motorcycles than we were to bad guys in the war zone."
Solomonson discusses the reasons for these statistics, as well as past motorcycle mentorship programs. He speaks to the differences between civilian and military motorcycle training classes and shares the value of this military supported safety program.
This video is presented by the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission and Puget Sound Safety. The WTSC will present higher volume traffic patrols or high visibility traffic enforcement during summer primetime in WA.
