Optimal upper back movement is really important as it sets the scene for good neck, shoulder, low back and hip function.
The treatment technique you’re seeing in this video is a spinal rotation articulation which is aimed at improving range of movement by mobilising the joints and decreasing joint stiffness.
Rotation is the primary motion of the upper back or thoracic spine so it’s a great way to start improving function.
The second technique you’ll see here is a similar articulation technique aimed at improving extension range of movement. Thoracic extension is also functionally important as it is a good predictor of shoulder injury because of its role in setting the position of the scapular.
