Body colour grille/bumpers/door handles, homofocal headlamps, twin door mirrors, flush wheel covers, rake adjustable steering wheel, illuminated switches heater controls and glovebox, coin tray, 4-speed heater fan, heated rear window, twin-tone horn, water temperature gauge, digital clock, swivelling sunvisors with drivers docket pocket and passenger mirror, rear seatbelts, remote boot release, stereo radio/cassette with six-speaker music system. Dealer Accessories; Rover rubber floor mats, security window etching, Rover ice scraper, lambswool seat covers, Panama hats.

EXTERIOR
This truly unique Rover 213 is finished in delightfully period Sandalwood, (Code SMC), and oozes warm charm in a condition worthy of the accolades achieved on the show circuit. Having covered a remarkably miniscule 5,724 miles from new the condition throughout is splendid. Wheel arch apertures and the underside are beautifully clean and structural integrity is assured thanks to careful indoor storage. A tiny mark on the drivers rear door and slight ageing to the Rover bonnet badge are barely worth mentioning. All supplying dealer branding is still attached including front and rear number plates, rear window sticker and tax disc holder! The homofocal headlamps are crystal clear and all rubbers, glass and trim is perfect. A regular member of the Top 10 best-selling cars in the home market this now virtually extinct Rover is truly nostalgic.

INTERIOR
Matching Sonor Marle cloth seat facings finished in Beige, (Code ANJ), are pristine with the fronts protected by period lambswool covers. Comfortable reclining front seats with a rake adjustable steering wheel allow the driver to find the perfect driving position in civilised levels of luxury appointment. The wraparound centre console, colour-keyed seatbelts, carpets, padded facia, door trim and soft feel 3-spoke steering wheel are finished in immaculate Chocolate Brown. The often troublesome headlining is fully intact and all carpeting is protected by genuine Rover rubber floor mats. The Rover rubber tray insert is present and beer towels are neatly folded in the glove box ready to place on top of the dash on warm sunny show days! The boot area is immaculate and all functions and controls operate perfectly including the stereo cassette.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Tokyo-developed all alloy crossflow 12-valve power is one of the jewels in the Austin Rover/BL/BMC car range and the specifications of the 1342cc power unit fitted in this Rover 213 are desirable. A whisper quiet 70bhp with excellent fuel economy and reliability is a joy. The engine bay is immaculate and displays factory stickers, labels and bulkhead VIN stamp. Gear changes via the 5-speed manual box are light and precise, affirming once more the cars ultra-low mileage credentials and pampered existence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory 13in steel wheels wear the original and correct full width wheel trims which remain as new with no damage. There is plenty of tread remaining on the period Dunlop 155S SR13 steel belted radial tyres but renewal prior to regular use would be a wise precaution simply due to age. The jack and wheel brace remain in the polystyrene holder. Diagonally split and dual-circuit servo assisted brakes offer assured straight-line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st June 1988 to Miss Hester Estella, a retired headmistress who taught at schools in the West Midlands and Wolverhampton. The history file contains an article from the Mail Online who report she unfortunely died at 90 after burglars trick their way into her home in 2012. According to Bridgnorth-based Perry & Phillips, a firm of auctioneers who sold the car as part of the deceased owners estate, it was serviced and MOT’d every year with the annual mileage nothing more than one return trip to the main dealer! Since this point, the car has been enthusiast owned attending numerous shows and winning awards such as the Best Rover 200/400 at the British Leyland Autumn Rally and Best Modern Rover. Handbooks, owners manuals, previous registration documents, spare keys and even Trilby Panama hats for show days are included! One for the Rover collector and avid enthusiast to preserve and treasure.

MOT April 2024, HPI Clear.
