This is a quick demonstration of the new vSphere integration in ScaleIo 1.3, and PROTOTYPE of the vmkernel loadable SDC module! ScaleIO is a software-defined storage technology - that can take any storage (HDDs, SSDs) across any set of servers, pool them, and then consume that for all sorts of use cases (virtualized, physical - vSphere, Openstack using KVM, massive Oracle RAC clusters, you name it!)
The new vCenter plugin makes installing and configuring ScaleIO in vSphere environments simple and easy... And the prototype (remember, this doesn't have a firm GA - so don't ask!) of the vmkernel loadable SDC (ScaleIO client) means that vSphere can directly access a ScaleIO cluster - eliminating the need for a separate iSCSI VM or physical host running an SDC that in turn presents iSCSI targets to vSphere!
Thanks to the great EMC team that made this demo video: Jase McCarty, Rafael Novo, Saqib Ghani and of course the awesome EMC ScaleIO team!
