El Mangroove boasts two refreshing pools, one stretching from the main restaurant to the beach, and another set of pools that lead to the resort’s third restaurant. Speaking of food, you won’t go hungry here. MAKOKO offers a mix of Costa Rican and international dishes, while Matiss, with its laid-back sand floor, is perfect for lunch or a lazy afternoon drink. And if you’re in the mood for Mediterranean, Malu serves up wood-fired pizza, pastas, and fresh fish. Despite these amenities, the beach left me underwhelmed with its lack of waves and persistent vendors, making it hard to feel truly relaxed.

El Mangroove features 120 rooms and three diverse dining venues, ensuring you have plenty of options to satisfy your palate. The resort also offers a spa for those needing a bit of pampering after exploring the beach or pools. Located just under 30 minutes from Liberia’s international airport, it’s incredibly convenient for travelers. However, with its bland beach and overall forgettable vibe, you might want to consider other options like the nearby Andaz or the mid-range Nantipa. So, save your money—El Mangroove might not be the paradise you’re dreaming of.
