A once welcoming Europe is now closing its doors, and Serbia has become a bottleneck for thousands of people a month trying to get through the increasingly hostile route. Many are fleeing war and persecution in countries like Syria and Afghanistan.
Reporter Seyi Rhodes meets beaten and bruised migrants trying to leave Serbia, and the families living for months in government camps too scared to make the journey.
