Finn Carlyle hails from a small, peaceful hamlet in the Riverlands called Brackenhollow, a secluded settlement nestled near the edge of the Whispering Woods, which the locals revere as sacred. The forest is thick with bracken ferns, giving the hamlet its name, and it’s steeped in the old traditions of those who follow the Old Gods of the Forest. Raised in a large, loving family, Finn grew up with the warmth of siblings and parents who provided a stable and nurturing home. From a young age, he learned the basics of herbal remedies and practical healing from the village elder, developing a deep empathy for those in need.
Finn’s life took a strange turn when his sister was struck by an odd and embarrassing ailment that he had no way to tackle—permanent erect nipples. Concerned for her and not knowing how to help his sister from this perplexing ailment, the village sought aid from a mysterious traveling healer that arrived in the hamlet a few days after her symptoms had worsened. The foreign healer, Eldrin Rooke, was a man of Valyrian descent, skilled in potent and unconventional methods. He arrived, claiming to have "heard the forest's call," and offered his help in trying to cure Finn's sister's bizarre affliction. The healer’s ancient methods seemed miraculous to Finn and his family albeit very unusual. They involved peculiar massage rituals, various alternative herbal remedies, and utterings in the High Valyrian tongue he called words of intent. His sister's dramatic recovery sparked a deep fascination, and Finn begged the healer to let him travel and learn their ways.
Finn traveled Westeros with Eldrin Rooke, treating a range of ailments from common illnesses and injuries to bizarre conditions like extreme flatulence and venomous insect-induced butt warts. Through these diverse experiences, Finn refined his healing skills, combining herbal remedies with the High Valyrian words of intent as well as a variety of other unconventional techniques to address both physical and emotional ailments.
Now back on his own, Finn is a gentle and calm presence with a deep understanding of how the mind, body, and spirit are connected. Though his methods may seem odd, they are grounded in careful study, empathy, and practice. Finn avoids any perception of magical powers, instead presenting his skills as based on natural understanding. His dedication to curing strange ailments stems from a deep desire to help those like his sister—bringing health, laughter, and relief to all who seek his aid.
