The Old STAIRWELL MIC TRICK for DRUMS
I set up a mic outside the live room to capture some vibe, since the room itself was quite small.
The stairwell outside had a LOT of vibe. Mixed that in with the close mics of the drums and it gave it some more space and energy.
It's always worth chucking up another mic to get some room sound if you can, even if it's outside the room!
This was recorded at Coconut Lodge Studios, in Balham.
