Paris Opening Ceremony highlights: Performances, Team USA
Paris kicked off its first Summer Olympics in a century Friday, with a four-hour-long, rule-breaking opening ceremony that unfurled along the Seine River. This was the first Opening Ceremony outside of a stadium.

Iconic monuments like the Louvre museum became stages for dancers, singers and other artists. Onlookers were treated to performances including Lady Gaga, a mash-up of Les Misérables, Gojira and Celine Dion to name a few.
A mysterious masked figured carried the Olympic torch around Paris, visiting some of the most iconic landmarks.
