In this video I discuss JavaScript as it stands in the year 2021, as it relates to data science. We answer the question - if you're a coming, aspiring data scientist, is this something you should learn?

JavaScript has been around since 1995, and is one of the primary scripting languages of the internet alongside HTML and CSS. The trademark of it is owned by Oracle, but the language is defined by an organization called the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA). It is an object oriented language that is generally compiled "just in time", is dynamically typed, but is not open source. The most common way it is used is through Node, which is a command-line interpreter. Through that you can use NPM, or the Node Package Manager, to install JavaScript libraries.

Some helpful libraries for data science include: D3.js, nlp.js, ml.jl, and TensorFlow.js.
