Blanc & Noir - Toccata (Official Video)
We brought together the naive timbre and touch structure of the Rhodes Piano, also known as the Fender Rhodes, the cult instrument of jazz, and the harmonic richness of J.S.Bach in the album "It's Electric”. The first music video of the album “Toccata” is out now!
The haunting and overwhelmingly beautiful world of Toccata was created by the award-winning director and producer Ecem Lawton who envisioned a total dreamscape for Blanc & Noir’s unique rendering of Bach. With mysterious characters, war motifs, and striking choreography, Lawton carries the 18th-century piece to a more contemporary wartime-Berlin setting, merging past and present, the blurring the line between what’s real and what’s not. Should the audience pay attention to how the pianists enter the mysterious underground Blanc & Noir club, how they appear and disappear, to what the blood means, and who these characters’ might really represent, they might just unlock secrets buried within the timeless piece of music and its video. As a metaphor, the jazz club is a Pandora’s box, utterly open to interpretation.
