Chapter 1 of Resident Evil 4 Remake opens with the player character, Leon, arriving at a remote Spanish settlement. After investigating the disappearance of a police officer, Leon fights his way through Ganado enemies and gruesome horrors to find clues about his mission target and a map pointing to the edge of a large lake. The chapter concludes with Leon heading towards the lake, taking in the creepy sights along the way, and stopping to save his progress at a Typewriter. The chapter features collectibles such as files, Clockwork Castellans, and treasures, which can be found by exploring the environment.
