Install Linux Mint 22 on Windows 10 PC with less than Win11 requirements
[LinuxMint] This time, I've put together a method to install LinuxMint 22 on a Windows 10 PC that does not meet the functional requirements of Windows 11.
The idea is to create installation media on Windows 10 and install LinuxMint on that PC.
The edition is cinnamon.
Procedure summary)
0. Check Windows 11 functional requirements
1. Download LinuxMint22 ISO
2. Install Rufus
3. Create installation media with Rufus
4. Start installer - settings
5. Install
6. Change repository mirror - software update
・Update update manager
・Reset mirror site to Japan
Reset main and base to Japanese site
・Update software to latest version
7. Japanese input method settings (mozc settings)
・Launch input method app
・Install Japanese language pack
・Select input method as fcitx
・Log out and log back in (for settings to be reflected)
・Check Japanese input in Writer (switch input to mozc)
8. Firefox initial settings
9. Fixed IP address settings
・Check Gateway and DNS addresses assigned by DHCP in advance
・Change from DHCP to manual IP settings (assigned below this time)
IP:192.168.20.71
MASK:255.255.255.0
GW:192.168.20.203
DNS:8.8.8.8
*Adjust the IP address and GW to your environment
-Network off/on
-ping google.com (OK if there is a reply)
10.SSH connection settings
-Check ssh service
systemctl status ssh
-Install
apt -y install openssh-server
-Check status
systemctl status ssh
*OK if avtive
-Set to start every time
systemctl enable ssh
-Start command
systemctl start ssh
systemctl restart ssh is also OK
-Check SSH connection with teraterm
11.Remote connection settings
-Check xrdp service
systemctl status xrdp
-Install xrdp
apt -y install xrdp
-Check status
systemctl status xrdp
*OK if avtive
-Set to start every time
systemctl enable xrdp
Startup command
systemctl start xrdp
systemctl restart xrdp is also possible
Check the RDP connection from the host OS
Log off LinuxMint ← This is important!・RDP connection from the host (check remote desktop connection)
