The two-part musical comedy, which was staged at the Odessa Film Studio by directors Viktor Makarov and Alexander Polynnikov, is known to many film fans and over the years has become a true screen classic. The film was first shown on television in October 1981. For both Makarov and Polynnikov, the film became a directorial debut; they were previously known to viewers as the cinematographers of the popular films “City Romance”, “Insolence”, “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers” and “The Adventures of Electronics”.
At first, the script, called “Take Care of Women,” was about a team of girls in a foundry. A guy, a Komsomol leader, fell in love with one of them. Together with his friends, he entered into a struggle with his superiors to re-equip the hot shop and improve the working conditions of the girls. Anatoly Kozak turned to Mosfilm with his script, believing that the story about the working class, about Komsomol members, would be in demand. But there the idea was greeted coolly. Kozak did not find support at other film studios. So the plot of “Take care of women” would have remained an unrealized project if someone had not prompted Kazak to contact Central Television. There his idea was understood and as a result, the decision was made to shoot the film at the Odessa Film Studio.
Having arrived in Odessa, having visited the port and being imbued with the romance of the sea, Anatoly Kozak realized that the plot urgently needed to be changed. It will look much more interesting, more romantic, brighter and fresher if the action is transferred from the foundry to a sea tug, accompanied by the cries of seagulls and ship whistles. And if you add songs too!
The film “Take Care of Women” is watched with pleasure even today - lightness, humor, music, nostalgic memories of that time and city. And, of course, the beautiful faces of young talented actresses. Their fates turned out differently, but for millions of viewers they remained Lyuba, Galya, Valya and Olya - the brave girl crew of the tugboat "Cyclone".
And we are pleased to open the nostalgic album of photo tests for the project, which is stored in the archives of the Odessa Film Studio.
