UK-based director/animator/illustrator (and former Süperfad CD) Richard Hickey: "The story of 'Francis' came about interestingly from the famed radio show 'This American Life' out of WBEZ Chicago when broadcaster Ira Glass asked six renowned American writers to create a short story about adventure.
"One of these stories, written by novelist and screenwriter Dave Eggars, was read on the show to much acclaim and praise. From here, we worked with producer Kevin Batten and a team to turn the words into a beautiful short film -- working on the film between paid projects with up to 40 people involved on all elements of the animation. So far the film has been shown as part of Cannes Film Festival and most recently at Raindance." For NotToScale Director: Richard Hickey Producer: Kevin Batten
