Andre Galvao, Shutting Down Open Guards: Jiu-Jitsu Magazine #23
Recently off of a successful individual and team victory at this years Pan Ams we stopped by Atos in sunny San Diego and were treated to some great moves by Andre Galvao. For this specific photo/video shoot Andre showed us common mistakes he has seen and how changed just a few little things can make big differences in your game. Here Andre demonstrates a half guard pass starting from the knees. Andre shows how attempting to pass the guard standing can get you in trouble against an opponent with a great open style type guard like spider or De La Riva guard so he purposefully puts himself in half guard.
