The Idea of You, After & The Controversial Idea of 'Real Person Fiction'

Today we're talking fanfiction- specifically 'Real Person Fiction', such as something like Anna Todd's 'After' series (franchise now, basically), as well as stories heavily inspired by real people, like The Idea of You book and movie. Both of those take heavy-or direct- inspiration from Harry Styles for the characters Hardin Scott and Hayes Campbell respectively. We'll talk about some other cases where the subjects of RPF were put in an uncomfortable situation, like with the fanfiction written about Lauren Juaregui and Camila Cabello, as well as a gruesome story written about Girls Aloud, for which the author actually had to appear in court. We'll explore the question as to whether RPF is ethical, and look at opinions and cases than span both sides of the question. In addition, we'll also talk about some artists like Billie Eilish, Suga, and Heechul, who themselves engage in Real Person Fiction, often about themselves, and have found it entertaining.
