The rough rider vst plugin has a vintage sound with an obvious low pass filter. Lack of high end is classic of vintage gear and I think rough rider emulates this well.
As we have seen here in the video rough rider would be great on drums, bass and anything that does not need that crisp top end. I tried the vst on a synth track and a bass track and it performed pretty well and has a lovely warm twinge to it.
Rough Rider lacks a threshold control which is a feature in standard compressors, however this will have a predetermined threshold based on the ratio settings.
Overall the rough rider vst plugin is a must have in your collection and why not, it's free. Make your music production better with warm compression.
