Maserati Ghibli, first drive. Present by Ivan Capelli. 20.06.13. Siena(Italy).
Ghibli - it is the company's first ever car to receive a diesel engine in the form of a V6 3.0-liter turbo developing 275 HP (202 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) which is enough for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) run in 6.3 seconds. The diesel-powered Ghibli returns 47 mpg UK (39.2 mpg US or 6 liters / 100 km).
Those who prefer gasoline engines can order the Ghibli with a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter rated at 330 HP (243 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). Maserati is also selling a Ghibli S model featuring the same gasoline engine but tweaked to release 410 HP (301 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft). In this configuration, the car will need only five seconds until 100 km/h (62 mph) before hitting a top speed of 285 km/h (177 mph).
These three engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission developed by ZF. European customers (except UK) will also have the possibility of opting for a Q4 all-wheel drive system. Both RWD and AWD versions come with a mechanical limited-slip rear differential with 35 percent lock-up under power and 45 percent under release.
The Maserati Ghibli has a double wishbone suspension up front and a multi-link rear system, while alloy sizes vary from the standard 18 inches to 21. Behind those wheels are Brembo ventilated cross-drilled brakes which in the Ghibli S measure 360x32mm and come with six-piston calipers for the front axle and four-piston calipers at the back.
