In honour of the esteemed contribution of work by Naila Kabeer to the fields of international development and feminist economics, this event provides an opportunity to take stock of how consideration of gender in development has evolved over the past three decades.
Naila Kabeer's enduring impact on gender-focused development policies remains a beacon for future initiatives. Her advocacy for grassroots movements and community-level activism continues to inspire and shape the path toward more inclusive and equitable development strategies.
Naila Kabeer is a social economist, research fellow, writer and Professor at the London School of Economics where she is joint Professor of Gender and Development at the Department of Gender Studies and the Department of International Development. Naila is also a Faculty Associate at LSE’s International Inequalities Institute. She was president of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) from 2018 to 2019 and is currently a member of the UNRISD board. She works primarily on poverty, gender and social policy issues. Her research interests include gender, poverty, social exclusion, labour markets and livelihoods, social protection, focused on South and South East Asia.
