Following the release of Ubuntu 23.04 “Lunar Lobster” it was announced by Graham Inggs that Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur” is open for development. Stating that they are happy to announce that Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur” has been opened for development, Inggs said; he stated that automatic synchronization is enabled and will work soon. As always, Inggs stated that they were expecting a large build and autopkg test flow at the beginning; He said they expect users to help fix any breakouts. The release schedule for the new version, which is scheduled to be announced on October 12, can be found hereSaid it was available. Stating that the features will be frozen in mid-August, Inggs; He said that in September the Ubuntu 23.10 beta will be available. Since Ubuntu 23.10 is the cycle before Ubuntu 24.04 as the next long-term support (LTS) release, Ubuntu 23.10 promises to be quite interesting in terms of review changes prior to this LTS release.
Ubuntu 23.10 is expected to migrate to Dbus-Broker, use the GNOME 45 desktop environment, possibly use the Linux 6.5 kernel for the latest open source graphics drivers, Mesa 23.2, upgrade to the major GCC 13 compiler update.
