Turkey continues to strengthen its military power by adding advanced submarines to its Navy inventory, one of the major steps in this effort is the entry of the Pirireis submarine which will be marked by a major ceremony at the Aksaz Shipyard. The ceremony will be attended by prominent figures, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Pirireis submarine is the first of six submarines built under the Yeni Tip Denizaltı Projesi project known as the Reis-class. The project was initiated with the aim of strengthening Turkey’s underwater defenses and increasing its bargaining power in the Mediterranean Sea and beyond.
