In today's video we are going to be talking about how to sell put options or cash secured puts in order to earn some extra weekly and monthly income. Now at first, the whole options trading thing can be pretty overwhelming but if you take the time to understand it, it really isn't too bad once you get the foundation of how things work and that is what I hope to help you out with in this video.
Selling put options is one of my favorite way to trade options because I can do this on a stock I want to buy anyways. When you are selling put options, you are saying you are willing to purchase a stock at a certain price and with that you get what is paid a premium for that contract. Earning the premium for writing that put option is how you earn that weekly and monthly income. The closer your strike price is to the share price and the farther out in expiration you go, the more you will make in premium.
Now I typically like to sell put options on a weekly basis because it doesn't tie up my collateral for a very long time. When it comes to collateral, that is the money you have to have in your account when you go to place this selling put option trade. I will discuss this in more detail in the video.
