Shopping in Kashmir & Visiting Local Kashmiri House | Authentic Carpets & Pashmina Prices 2024
Yesterday, we checked into this amazing villa, and it snowed the whole night! in the morning the whole view changed and we stepped out in a winter wonderland. It was my first time seeing such fresh snow. Today we will be travelling from Gulmarg to Pahalgam but on the way, we made a few stops.
Our driver bhaiya was so kind to take us to his house where we drank homemade kahwa 😍 (which was completely different from what is sold in the shops by the way and yummy too!)
then we went to a govt factory outlet to check out authentic pashmina shawls and carpets. The salesman told us how they are made and we were so amazed to see such intricate work.

And then finally we made it to Pahalgam, where we have opted for Zostel and what a property it was! 🫶🏼 Not as luxurious as the other Gulmarg stay ofcourse, but still it was a good experience.
🚫 BEWARE OF SCAMS:
Contrary to the popular opinion - DO NOT shop from LAL CHOWK, MEENA BAZAAR or in fact any touristy place in Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam because all are fake and over priced. Try to find shops where only locals do shopping, Ask your driver or just go to the place I have mentioned in the video.
Also, if anyone is selling pashmina below 7-8k, it is straight up fake. So don't bother.
