I analyzed Youtuber Devlogs and here's why. If you're involved in the game development niche on YouTube or really watched any game dev content, you've probably come across the classic indie game devlog. But why do game developer YouTubers make them?
Generally, indie game devlogs perform fairly well on YouTube, which is definitely important for content creators. But from a different perspective, indie game devlogs help with the game development process. Personally, devlogs keep me accountable for progress and motivate me to add compelling features to my indie game before the next demo (aka video). It's also a great feedback tool too, allowing indie game developers to crowdsource feedback quickly!
Essentially, devlogs are similar to the tech industry's "sprint tech demo" in agile development teams, where teams showcase their completed work every few weeks. Like tech demos, devlogs help illustrate progress and keep development on track. Plus, they raise brand awareness about the game and attract potential players.

Let me know in the comments if you think devlogs are helpful for the game development process!
